Package Details and Information:

Plan B - Two days of fishing

If you never have had the chance to fish the BIG LAKE or are considering a charter for this summer, you should really give it a try! There is no where else you can go in the Midwest and consistently catch the size and amount of fish that you do on Lake Michigan! What about cost? You may be surprised! An average fishing charter will probably  cost you less per person than dinner and drinks at a fancy restaurant!

What If I Have Never Been Fishing Before?
You'll receive plenty of instructions how to use the equipment and tips on fighting the fish, and feel free to ask on  questions.... I want you to get as much out of your trip as you do!!

What Kind Of Fish Will We Catch?
The size, species, and numbers of fish will depend mainly on what time of the season you take your charter. But the general rule of thumb is springtime, large quantities of fish, but smaller in
average size. In the summer, larger size fish and more variety of species. In the fall, typically the largest fish! While fishing conditions do change, you can be assured that I will put you on to the hottest action possible!

What to Bring:
Temperatures on Lake Michigan are very unpredictable. While the temperature at the dock might be 80 degrees two miles offshore the temperature could be in the mid 60's! This is especially true in April-May and September. Bring along a sweatshirt, jacket, and slacks or pants just in case. You will need sun block or tanning lotion. Sun glasses and shorts for hot sunny days. Rain jackets are recommended  if weather conditions are likely for rain!

Two coolers are recommended. One large one that is usually left in your vehicle for transporting the catch home and a smaller one for food and beverages to ing on the boat. A typical problem that arises is that the fish cooler is too small. Also ing a camera and lots of film. Charter fishing trips are an excellent opportunity to collect memories! Fishing licenses are required . They can be purchased on the boat for one day!

The Boat:
The boat is a 33 foot Tiara sport fishing machine. The boat is properly outfitted with all of the Coast required safety  and navigational equipment is thoroughly inspected, insured and maintained.  I am federally Guard  licensed captain and your safety and comfort is my number one priority!

Location and Fishing Information

Lake Trout Fishing Lake Michigan -
March & April
Weather permitting, fishing usually gets underway around the third week of March with strong Coho action. A typical catch would be a (20-30 fish) of 2-5 lbs. coho's. Towards the end of April Steelheads (Rainbows) will also figure into catch.

May
Features has coho action with many limit catches. Many Steelhead and some Browns and Lake Trout are caught. The Coho avg. 3-7 lbs. and the Lake Trout range from 4-20 lbs. This is some of the most exciting fishing available in freshwater. The majority of the Rainbows are taken off surface and once hooked they often spend more time in the air than in the water.

June
Typically in early June, Lake Trout begin to orientate more toward the hill and fast Coho and steelhead action continues in our offshore waters. While Lake Trout avg. 8-15 lbs. it is not uncommon to tie into a 25 or even 30 lb. monster!! Average sizes of Coho increase dramatically as the season progresses and by the end of the month, Coho's in in excess of 10 lbs. are common. Limit catches occur frequently. The weather is predictably nice!

July and August
July and August are two of my favorite months on Lake Michigan. This period features some of the best fishing in terms of quantity, quality, and variety. The largest fish of the year are often taken as are some of the heaviest catches. The types of fish include Kings (Chinooks), summer run Steelhead, Brown Trout, and Coho.

Big Lake Trout  can also be found in abundance. The weather is generally very nice and the fishing is exciting, Kings and Steelhead are the target species, but on many day s all five species can be found schooled together. The size of fish can range between 6-25 lbs., with averages often 12-22 lb. category. July and August is highly recommended for Trophy fish!

"The salmon I caught was my first Atlantic salmon but won't be my last if I can help it. Gary was great! He certainly put us on fish and was very helpful in showing us the casting techniques we needed. The accommodations were great, all in all it’s a nice setup. The spot we were at was quite beautiful and a great place to fish. I am already looking forward to the next trip."
