Guided Trips In The North West Of Ireland
Ireland, Co. Roscommon — Package: 10001085
Package Details and Information:
Our aim is to guide our guests to an unforgettable holiday experience with the prospect of plenty of fish.
Boat fishing:
Often and especially in the warmer months of the year we use boats to access the likely pike holding places. Typical of the methods we employ are: Lure trolling, Spinning, Dead baiting etc.
Bank fishing (mobile):
There are good locations on some rivers and lakes where there is no need for a boat. Great sport can be had when walking the bank equipped with a spinning rod and some tackle, or fly-fishing for pike. The guide will bring you to those places and assist you in every way.
Bank fishing (static):
Fully guided static approaches can also be arranged at any time, but usually from late autumn and all through the winter. Ledgering Dead baits, Float ledgering, etc. can get you the real biggies. We just set up and relax with a hot mug of tea or coffee, while waiting for the first run. Bank sticks, Bite alarms, Tackle, etc. can be provided
Fly fishing for Pike:
This is one of the most exiting ways of catching pike from boat or bank, and is enjoyed by both experienced fly-anglers and beginners. We can supply you with some of the pike-flies and again our tackle rental facilities will cater for everything you need.
Fly-fishing for wild Irish Brown Trout.
Rivers: Season is from March to September.
We consider fishing the dry fly as the most sporting and effective method. Depending on conditions and your preferences the wet fly and Nymphs can also produce very good catches.
Lakes: Season is from March to September.
Wet-fly fishing predominates from early season until the end of May. Some good sport can be had during buzzer and duck fly hatches in the early part of the season. Excellent dry-fly fishing during the Mayfly hatches and great evening fishing with spent mayfly patterns. Wet fly fishing predominates again until July/August when the sedge fishing starts. Green Peters and Murroughs will hatch in great numbers and large trout can be caught on dry patterns from evening till nighttime.
We arrange Sea angling boat trips with experienced Charter skippers in the fresh Atlantic waters off the coast of County Sligo.
General fishing:
An average day should produce a good bag of Mackerel, Pollack, Cod, Ling, Coalfish, Wrasse, Dogfish and more.
Good fishing for spur dogs can also be had.
The boats will normally carry up to 8 persons
Shark fishing:
Between July and October specimen blue shark over 100lbs have been landed.
On these trips the skipper will only take 5 people per boat.
Big Game Angling for Blue fin tuna!
