Spend a day drifting the magical Middle Fork of the Flathead River. These float trips are full of solitude, relaxation and pristine fly fishing The Middle Fork of the Flathead River punches its way through the mountains of northwest Montana. From its beginnings in the Great Bear Wilderness area, the Middle Fork offers a unique blend of scenery, wildlife and fishing in un-crowded and pristine surroundings. From Bear Creek, where the river leaves the Great Bear 45 miles downstream, to Blankenship Bridge, the river separates Glacier National Park and the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex Cutthroat, Rainbows, and Bull trout are common to catch in these rivers.
The floats will take you on a number of different sections of the river in McKenzie style drift boats or float boats. This style of fishing will allow you to cast over water which is not accessible through wade-in fishing. Your trip will also include a streamside lunch. We can also arrange for trips to the other major rivers in the area such as the Gallatin, Madison and Bighorn.

Accommodation:
The lodge itself was built initially as a train station in 1906. The Lodge opened as an Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge in 1996, offering many of the same activities for it's guests that are offered today. The main lodge has been remodeled over the years, yet it still retains the character and charm of historic beginning. The main lodge contains incredible Glacier Park mountain views and the ambience has a vast space. The second floor contains a relaxing area to play pool, watch a movie, tie some flies, or simply to have a cocktail or cigar.
The Lodge has several comfortable rustic cabins; some of the cabins have 1 or 2 bedrooms. Most of them have two queen beds, a private bath, and charming furnishings. They have all the amenities that you will need. The cabins also have a small front porch with mountain views, a site that you must not overlook as you may see elk, moose or some of our friendly bears! Each cabin offers a quiet and private respite from the work-a-day world.

Available Dates:
Our season begins late April each year when fishing is at its best. We wet fly fish this popular time of the year where we bring large rainbows ranging from 4-15 lbs. The climate can be cold but fishing is always exceptional. In the Summer, it is time to dry fly fish with hatches including caddis, mayfly, midge, and damsels in abundance. Hopper fishing is also abundant in July though September. Horseback trips to a remote mountain top lake are a Summer specialty.
