Location and Fishing Information

Highland Trout Lochs - This short break is based in Evanton, Ross-shire, just 20 miles north of Inverness, the capital of the Highlands.

Inverness Airport has direct flights from London Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton, Glasgow and Edinburgh, and the city also has direct rail services from throughout the UK.

The area is one of outstanding natural beauty, with plenty of things to see and do other than the great fishing. There are many notable places to visit within a 45 minute drive including Inverness and Loch Ness, Royal Dornoch Golf Course, the Glenmorangie Distillery and numerous castles.

Ross-shire lies north of Inverness and extends from the West to East coast of this part of Scotland.

There is excellent brown trout fishing throughout the county, most of it on lochs. In Easter Ross, if conditions are right we will fish Loch Eye, one of the most productive lochs on the British mainland, Bad a' Bhathaich a remote Highland loch at an altitude of 1000 ft with crystal clear waters, and perhaps Loch Meig in beautiful Strathconon.

All these lochs fish extremely well to both traditional 'loch style' wet fly fishing and to modern nymph, buzzer and dry fly tactics. The choice is usually dictated by the wind and wave conditions on the day, and often you get the chance to fish all these methods in a single day.

Your guide will be a professionally qualified fly fishing instructor and guide and will be very pleased to show you any or all of the tactics.

Depending on the timing of your visit and current prospects, we may also fish in Wester Ross, where there are a myriad of good trout fishing opportunities, particularly in the Gairloch area.
