Fishing for marlin along the east coast of Australia each year, between Sydney and Cairns on the Great Barrier Reef in Far north Queensland, Australia. Captain Tim and  crew on the Calypso will show you the best fishing Australia has to offer. The Calypso:
A purpose built sports fishing vessel, built tough for the rugged Australian conditions. She is 43ft long and powered by 900BHP twin Detroit Diesel's. Fully air conditioned open bulkhead layout puts you right in the action all day every day. An 11kva on an auxiliary supply's an abundance of 240v AC power to run all ancillary equipment for your enjoyment and comfort whilst on board, these include; fresh water maker, DVD,VHS,CD players and a fully equipped galley. Huge refrigeration systems are also an integral part of our operation, keeping your drinks cold and catch fresh.

Captain Tim and Crewman Andy Dow have a wealth of knowledge from years of experience in the fishing industry, not only will you catch plenty of fish, you will also be looked after by the best.

CAIRNS AND LIZARD ISLAND

Time to get very serious: The heavy tackle season out of far north Queensland is the pinnacle of our tour. There is not another area in the world which can produce fish of this size on a regular basis. This is the Mecca of all game and sports fishing around the world.

Fishing and living on the Great Barrier Reef will no doubt open your eyes to a whole new world of heavy tackle hard-core Game Fishing. How many places in the world do you fish where a 25lb tuna is the ideal live bait! Out here you will be fishing for Black Marlin in excess of 1000 lbs

We suggest live aboard charters for this fishery and all our other Queensland areas.

TOWNSVILLE AND DUNK ISLAND
Fishing is the lee of the Great Barrier Reef makes this area a very comfortable and accessible fishing ground

Small Black Marlin, Sailfish and a host of reef species are the order of the day here, with the bill fish sometimes in plague proportions (the current record stands at 42 fish released in a single days fishing!) A particular spot for trying out saltwater fly fishing as the size of the bill fish suits the first time fly fisherman.

PORT STEPHENS
Lying only two hours north of Sydney by car is the Bluewater Wonderland of Port Stephens.

Calypso arrives back from her Queensland seasons to start the year again at the country's premier light and medium tackle fishing area. Fish these waters for the most unbelievable Marlin action you have every experienced

Imagine fishing only 10 min utes from the dock and being in the most productive small Black Marlin ground this country has to offer, but just remember not to venture out to far as the Striped Marlin will crush you !

And if it is an easy day you are after then don't whatever you do go near the 250 - 850 lbs Blues on the shelf especially with your fly gear !!

The IGFA saltwater fly fishing world records were literally rewritten in 1998 in the south-east fishery of Port Stephens. The newly recognised billfish on fly capital of the world was realised with a staggering total of five world records for Black and Striped marlin taken during the Marlin Season.

BERMAGUI
Made famous by the legendary American Angler Zane Grey, this small south east town boasts the best tuna action anywhere in Australia. The Continental shelf, lying just 9 miles off the coast is made up of a huge system of canyons and reefs which when combined with the cooler currents and enormous schools of bait fish, sets the scene for the absolutely explosive Tuna fishery.

Not only is BERMAGUI famous for its Tunas it is also classed as one of the best Striped Marlin fisheries in the world, with catches up to 10 fish per day not uncommon (it is now the benchmark for a good mid day mid season)

A particularly larger Striped Marlin stock, with fish in the 250 – 400 lb class being taken here each year, it is the spot to fish for that elusive light tackle record, (once thought to be the domain of New Zealand, now at our doorstep).

We can now offer Fishing trips to the untouched paridise of Lord Howe Island.

Fishing from a brand new 40ft Blackwatch with Captain Tim and crewman.

In this unspoiled paradise you will be fishing Blue marlin, Broadbill Swordfish,Yellowfin Tuna and XXOS Yellowtail Kingfish.

Charters will be for a mininum of 5 days with accomodation arranged for you and your guests.

These charters will start in December each year and go through to May.
