Spectacular Queenstown Lodge
New Zealand, Otago — Package: 5001173
Package Details and Information:
Spectacular scenery - wonderful ambience at this Queenstown Lodge only 5 minutes from central Queenstown
Travelling far from home, Queenstown is going to be a highlight of your vacation. You already know that where you stay is as important as where you go.
How then do you find a Queenstown Lodge equal to this experience?
Take the advice of Wallpaper Magazine, who after their visit said, "Forget the flashy new hotels and opt for the wood-burning modernity of the luxury Queenstown lodges."
Can you recall wonderful memories of earlier holidays, especially the character-filled lodges and B&B's you visited?
Our Lodge promises you special memories... "Paradise lost as we leave, paradise regained if we can return some day -- superb." - Bill and Sheila, Edinburgh, Scotland.
Very few have the good fortune to stay the night at this Queenstown Lodge. You may have to accept our word about the experience -- with only three suites, a reservation can be hard to secure.
"You have taken a fantastic location, excellent facilities, warm hospitality, fine food and wine, and woven it together to create an experience far richer than the sum of its parts” – this is the secret to the Queenstown experience – so much more than four walls and a bed.
Not surprisingly, Queenstown is regarded as the adventure capital of the world. We recommend that you allow a minimum of four nights to explore this special environment. Queenstown is the base for the regions many activities. To get the most enjoyment from your limited time, it makes good sense to select an Inn that is not too removed from the town. The Lodge offers you exceptional convenience.
Trout Fishing -- anglers from around the world travel to New Zealand to pursue our wily Brown and Rainbow Trout. For others, a few hours spent spin-fishing or trolling on one of our lakes is a memorable way to immerse yourself in this special environment.
The Lodge's Guides promise a fishing experience for anglers of all abilities. Experienced anglers will enjoy the challenge of stalking & sight casting to our wild fish. Dry fly fishing is our passion.
It is our pleasure to introduce less experienced anglers to this most enjoyable and noble contest between angler and fish. Novice anglers may be intrigued to learn that in New Zealand, we actually stalk our prey, only reluctantly resorting to "blind" fishing or "chuck and chance," as we call it.
While trout are found throughout New Zealand, there are special attractions to fishing in Queenstown:
Easy access to backcountry fisheries. Central Queenstown is a compact one square kilometre. Beyond this, the wilderness beckons, tantalisingly close.
A choice of an aggressive Rainbow trout fishery or cautious and wily German Brown trout.
Choose from 9 rivers each with their own characteristics. Waters range from rapid alpine streams & lazy braided rivers, to spring creeks & small alpine lakes.
To you the angler, this means that we can be confident of finding good water for you to fish on any given day. The lodge's guides will always work hard to match you to a suitable fishery. The pleasure of an inspiring day in the wilderness surrounded by nature's beauty is guaranteed.
The Lodges guides are all fully licenced professional guides. Rates include all tackle, expert tuition, lunch and transport by 4WD or boat.
Access
Trout can be seen in the Shotover River below the Lodge. Small lakes and streams are found within 10 minutes travel.
Only 5 minutes from the Lodge is a boat launching ramp for access to wilderness streams.
Board a helicopter 2 minutes from the Lodge and fly direct to pristine wilderness.
Fishing is one of the most popular pastimes. Novice anglers are not forgotten and would perhaps enjoy a half day's drift fishing from a punt on one of our small lakes.
Alternatively, we can offer you:
spinfishing, trolling, and harling
a maximum of four people may fish at any time.
"Steve has all the inside information about fishing in the area."
- Charter Magazine, November 1996.
The Lodge can assist you with reservations and advice for the following popular activities:

Location and Fishing Information
Spectacular Queenstown Lodge - "Splendid hospitality, superb food...
We had the best moments because of
your warm & friendly hospitality.
Bravi, Bravissimi!"
- Lidia and Paolo, Firenze, Italy
Solid brick walls plastered in earthy tones with deep-set windows evoke memories of historic farm buildings in New Zealand -- or Tuscany for that matter.
In the comfortable and welcoming atmosphere of the main lodge, you can choose to nestle into an overstuffed armchair by the log fire... lose yourself in a book from the library... or enjoy a game of pool or billiards with a drink from the bar.
Relax... you are at home.
Wine lovers will enjoy selecting from the lodge's cellar of local Central Otago wines. Tiny production means that many of these fine wines are impossible to find outside this region, which remains one of the wine world's better-kept secrets. The notoriously fussy Pinot Noir grape grows here at its spectacular best. Queenstown, in Central Otago, is one of the world's most promising wine regions, according to Master of Wine, Jancis Robinson.
Enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow guests and reflect on your good fortune to be enjoying these rare wines, over hors d'oeurves with complimentary pre-dinner drinks.
"I have been trying to track down Queenstown Pinot Noir, but nothing tastes quite like the bottles we enjoyed at the lodge." - Tom and Michelle, Houston, Texas.
Exploring the lodge's gardens you may be tempted to spend some time in the hydrotherapy jacuzzi with its spectacular views, or find a garden seat and just soak up the atmosphere.
Our Lodge in Queenstown overlooks the richest gold-bearing river in the world -- The Shotover.
Today you can readily appreciate why these quiet surroundings were chosen for an elegant hideaway when the Lodge was purpose-built. You may have to pinch yourself just to confirm that you are in fact relaxing in beautifully landscaped gardens, surrounded by pristine alpine scenery - all only five minutes from Queenstown.
Today, the hardships endured last century by Queenstown's gold miners are a distant echo.
The thing people most remember about the lodge is the food. "Steve and Jeanette are both superb cooks." - Frommers New Zealand Guide 2000.
