The San River, flowing out of the Bieszczady National Park in the Carpathian Mountains of South East Poland, is paradise for a trout and grayling fly fishing holiday, or short break. Poland is not a place one thinks of for destination fly fishing holidays, but this is exactly why we go there. The area of South East Poland that we fish is little known outside of Poland, but Polish fly fishers certainly know about it. Fly fishing on the River San is so special that the Polish National Flyfishing Team practice there extensively!

Both Jeremy and Stuart have their own successful fly fishing businesses in Cumbria and the Yorkshire Dales respectively; Poland adds another exciting dimension.

Fly Fishing San River, Poland - South East Poland where we fish is beautiful, being heavily forested hills and mountains, while the river valley itself is either forested or worked with sustainable, small scale agriculture, reminiscent of much of Europe in the 1950s and 1960s.  Except during times of heavy flood, the water flows very clear, indicative of the pristine nature of the country which the River San drains.  The abundance and diversity of invertebrates is astonishing, thus healthily supporting the vast fish population.

The population of grayling, over many miles of this vast river system, is probably unsurpassed anywhere in the World, while numbers of wild brown trout are also enormous. We have seen, on many occasions, grayling literally move away from under our feet as we wade, such is the population density!

The legendary huchen (taimen); big, powerful predatory salmonids which feed on the plentiful coarse fish species, as well as small trout and grayling, are also present throughout the river. We can arrange for you to fish for these predators if you can tear yourself away from the abundant grayling?

We fish the River San near Lesko, both upstream and downstream of the town, including the awesome "No-Kill" sector. As the title suggests, it is not allowed to kill fish on this 6 km stretch of pristine river, resulting in a population of grayling, and brown trout too, that has to be seen to be believed.

Our standard lodge is attractive, comfortable, close to the river and is what we and our families use most often.  We also have available, however, some exclusive houses and chalets, set deep in utterly peaceful, beautiful areas with more sumptuous living conditions.

Guide Price for a typical 5 day fly fishing trip (inclusive of flights from the UK, accommodation and meals, all transport in Poland, guides and fishing permits) is £800 per person. A 7 day fly fishing holiday would be around £1080. These prices are based on a group of four.  Larger groups will be less expensive per person and vice versa. This guideline price assumes you stay in our basic lodge.  If you require one of the more exclusive houses for your stay, please ask for a quote. Likewise, if you want to stay for alternative durations please ask.

A 5 day trip includes 3.5 day's fishing and a 7 day trip includes 5.5 day's. The half day is taken on the first day shortly after arrival, though this can not be guaranteed in the event of flight delays or other complications beyond our control.
