Golden Dorado In The Corrientes Province
Patagonia, Argentina — Package: 20001325
Package Details and Information:
Fly fishing for Golden Dorado is a fantastic experience. These strong and toothy fish take flies ferociously and offer an intense arm wrestling battle. Dorado jumps many, many times while hooked up. Imagine the acrobatics of an Atlantic Salmon with German Shepherd’s dog mouth and the color of gold jumping up to six feet out of the water and you’ll get the picture of what it is like fishing for them.
The Dorado, also called Tigre del rio or Pirayu by the locals behaves like any other predatory fresh water fish. They hide in medium to fast water waiting for their prey to come while in the river. In lagoons they are constantly moving in search for schools of baitfish, mainly for Sabalo. You have to spot schools of jumping baitfish or herons "marking" rests of baitfish, much like seagulls do when schools of Stripers are around.
Although Dorado reaches weights of up to 60 pounds, we’ll be catching most in the 6 to 20 lbs range.
We might also catch Tarariras, Chafalote (Payara like fish) and Piranha while casting for Dorado.
We will also share this beautiful landscape with herons, storks, kingfishers, Chajas, parrots, eagles, ducks and pigeons flying around palm trees and native vegetation. As a bonus we might encounter the biggest rodent in the world, the "Carpincho" or Capibara and Nandu (wild ostrich) and herds of Water Buffaloes.

Location and Fishing Information
Golden Dorado In The Corrientes Province - The Corrientes Province is located 250 miles north of Buenos Aires city, Argentina’s capital.
We will fish the Parana and Corrientes River delta from flats type boats and we’ll wade the most productive runs in the hunt of Golden Dorado.
Dorado behave much like trout in this fast moving runs, hiding behind boulders, logs and steep banks along the river. You will see their Black/golden back as they rise to chase bait fish. Precise casts into these spots produce an immediate strike, followed by a series of high jumps and a powerful run.
The river may be tea or café latte colored depending on the time of the year. Also, the closer to the marshes we are, the clearer it gets. If we venture into the marshes, water is crystal clear.

"Unbelievable!!!" My brother and I spent a day fishing with Frank. In a three hour time span we caught ten Sturgeon, the biggest of which was an eight foot, 300lb whopper!"
