We have English-speaking guides who are experts on the water where you will be fishing. Just inform us of your needs and interests, whether you ask for instruction or want to fish alone, we will do our best to fulfill your wishes and needs. Usually we have 2 persons per guide and they will have their own SUV (4x4 vehicle) at their disposal.
Equipment and clothing
For trout fishing we recommend rods for lines #4-6. For salmon fishing: lines #6-9. If you want to travel light we can supply you with top of the line gear.
Tackle disinfection
There is a strict policy of visiting anglers having their tackle sterilized before coming to Iceland. This should be done in a 2% formaldehyde solution for 10 minutes and performed by a vet surgeon. (Tackle sterilized in Virkon S is also acceptable.) A signed inventory of what has been sterilized should be provided by the vet for presentation to the customs officers at Keflavik airport. The most important items to be treated are: rods, reel/line, waders and flies. If you cannot find a vet to do this for you before leaving home, the process will be carried out by staff at Keflavik or Akureyri airport.
Clothing: You should bring warm clothes since it can get cold even in mid-summer when temperatures may drop down to about 0° C, the average being between 8 and 15°. The temperature can rise to 25-30° C on warm summer days with southerly winds, especially in the northern part of the country.

"Lifetime memories can't be better than this.
In Iceland in August 2005, with only a single day to get to the river and see about some fishing, Palmi got us in, hooked us up with beautiful fish, and took us to a nice local home for an Icelandic dinner."

"The first day I landed a 15 lb. plus fish that just sent adrenaline through me. He jumped numerous times and fought hard. The Guides put us over fish every day. To fish over fish every day, cast after cast is an exercise in learning the drifts and changing flies constantly is how you find the fly that brings one up. When he comes up the thrill of the take is unbelievable."
Greg Burchstead ~ United States
