Location and Fishing Information

Columbia River Sturgeon Fishing Trip - Two possible locations, depending on where the current best bite is at time of booking. Columbia River near Longview Washington, Willamett River near Portland or Columbia River 14 miles east of Portland below Bonneville Dam.
Fish the mighty Columbia River below Bonneville Dam for huge prehistoric sturgeon. Some of these fish will weigh upwards of 300 pounds each. Many anglers refer to them as the poor mans marlin, and for good reason. Even the smaller fish, measuring from 3- to 4-feet in length, will put up an impressive battle, making huge leaps and completely clearing the water.

You are guaranteed to get a real work out bringing these fish to the boat. Sturgeon over 60 inches must be released unharmed; those measuring from 46- to 60-inches can be retained.

These are a quality eating fish that provide a rich, non fishy tasting, white meat that can be prepared in many ways. Smoking is a favorite. Smoked sturgeon is a delicacy and sells for upwards of $14.00 per pound.

Accommodation:

Information on recomended lodging near the fishing locations is avialable.

Available Dates:

Year-round:
Best fishing in these areas is just prior to and during the early part of the smelt run, typically late December through February. Then again in May through August as huge over size fish begin their migration upstream, but sturgeon are caught year-round on this productive river.
