Perch fishing in Lake Erie

Perch fishing in Lake Erie is best starting in late summer through the fall.  As waters cool in late summer and fall, yellow perch generally form schools, move inshore and are caught fairly easily.  Although, last year perch fishing was great on the sandbars in the Central Basin- running the extra distance to deeper waters- these perch were big ones!  We will always burn the extra fuel to ensure your fishing trip is a successful one.

Throughout Lake Erie, Yellow Perch tend to be found near or on the lake bottom.  I fish perch with live minnows on spreader or perch rigs.  Varying the bait on or near the bottom- this jigging up and down technique results in the best catches.

Lake Erie's Yellow Perch limit is 30 per person.  Plenty of perch for a hearty, tasty meal- arguably the best tasting fish in the lake!

Remember our fishing advantage : We give our charter customers a FULL 8 hours of fishing, not 8 hours or your limit.  If we limit out early on any fishing trip, I will spend the rest of our time fishing for another specie.
