Idaho Native Cutthroat and Rainbow Trout
Idaho (ID) — Package: 200408
Package Details and Information:
The Middle Fork of the Salmon River is one of the premier fishing rivers in the Continental U.S. for native cutthroat and rainbow trout. The water is crystal clear, the fish are aggressive and the size of the fish are all outstanding. The Middle Fork is a classic dry fly fishery. Consequently, we encourage most of our guests to fly fish. Even the novice angler stands an excellent chance of landing significant numbers of fish each day. Because the Middle Fork is a prolific fly fishing river in Idaho, it is an outstanding place to introduce the young or novice angler to the sport. Our guides are all avid fishers and take pleasure in teaching the beginner all facets of fly fishing.
Fishing on the Middle Fork of the Salmon is best from early July through September. Fish will range in size from 10-21 inches with the average fish being in the 12 to 15 inch range. During the course of the trip, an experienced angler able to place a fly gently next to cliffs, rocks and other holding water should hope to catch a few fish in the 16-18 inch range and an occasional 20-21 inch fish. Assuming that the fish cooperate a little, it is not uncommon for the skilled angler to frequently catch more than 50 trout in a day.
Private fishing boats can be chartered on any of our launch dates for an individualized, first-rate fishing experience. Special September trips are available for small groups of serious anglers or specialty groups.
" This is one of the best trips anywhere. Our sides still hurt from laughing (and paddling). The guides antics and playfulness made us feel like kids again. Thanks for the fun. Thanks for the memories. "
" P.S. What can I say? You have made me twice the fisherman I was. The fishing on the Middle Fork can't be beat."

Location and Fishing Information
Idaho Native Cutthroat and Rainbow Trout - The Middle Fork of the Salmon is the most pristine white water river in the nation. It tumbles 100 miles through the heart of the largest protected wilderness area in the Continental United States. This mountainous country, located in central Idaho, is still as undisturbed and inaccessible as when the Tukudeka Shoshoni Indians roamed the area centuries ago.
The protected wilderness includes 2.3 million acres of alpine peaks and ridges that rise over 9,000 feet. It is a natural habitat and home to elk, deer, wolves, bear, bighorn sheep, mountain goat, golden eagle, and an abundance of smaller animal and bird life.
The crystal waters of the Middle Fork hold native cutthroat, rainbow, and Dolly Varden trout. At specific times of the year it is also the road home to chinook and steelhead salmon making their 800 mile journey inland to spawn.
