Fly Fishing River Tay and River Tummel Scotland

Situated a few yards from the Tummel & only a few miles from the Tay, our location is the ideal base for a fishing holiday.

As well as excellent salmon, wild brown trout fishing is available on the river and on beautiful hill lochs in the area.

Salmon Fishing
Season January 15th - October 15th inclusive

Situated a few yards from the Tummel & only a few miles from the Tay, Our location is the ideal base for fishermen. We have access to many beats on both rivers, with excellent fly & spinning water. Tay: Upper & Lower Kinnaird,Murthly,Newtyle,Stenton, Dalguise, Upper Dunkeld, Edradynate & many more!Tummel:West Haugh & Dunfallandy, East Haugh, Moulinearn.

River Tay
Upper Kinnaird: beats. Upper, Mon, Wed, and Fri. - 2 miles deep slow moving water, best pool being the Newton.

Lower: 6 days a week, 1 mile Tay water and half mile of Tummel, with junction of the 2 rivers. On the Tay there are good named pools, most productive being the Rock pool. Both beats can be harled from the boat at the right height - fly, spinning & worm only (no shrimp). Not the best beat for fly water but great for spinning.

Tackle & wader hire available- all ghillies experienced for tuition in Salmon fishing. There is a great hut with Aga for cold days and a B B Que for the summer!

Upper Dunkeld:  (Dalmarnoch)-one of the longest beats on the Upper Tay, approx 2 miles of double bank fishing with excellent fly & spinning water- all methods of fishing. 6 - 8 rods. Available for weekly lets April. May, September plus day rods.

Lower Kinnaird:  below Upper Kinnaird, with some of the best fly water on the mid Tay. 6 rod beat with boat & Ghillie.

River Tummel
Approx. 4 miles of double bank fishing with particularly good fly fishing.

West Haugh & Dunfallandy - 1.5miles double bank, 6 rods - 6 named pools. No ghillie.

East Haugh - 1 mile double bank, 4 rods. no ghillie.

Moulinearn Beat - 1.5 miles, double bank, 5 rods, ghillie shared with other rods. many named pools. Dates available:

All Tummel beats offer beautiful fly & spinning water and bookings need to be made well in advance. Fishing methods now limited to Fly & Spinning only. Experienced Bank Ghillies can be arranged per day. The Tummel has some beautiful runs and holding pools and fishes best from early spring into late July when the grilse arrive.

Fly Fishing River Tay and River Tummel Scotland - Situated in the heart of the picturesque Highlands, a sportsman's paradise, the local area offers many superb 18 hole golf courses, ancient castles, distilleries and woollen mills, excellent hill walking in Atholl, pony trekking and much more for your holiday/ vacation in the Scottish highlands.

Built originally as part of the Atholl Estate some 350 years ago, our property is a beautiful, turreted stone house situated off the old A9 road and set in 2 acres of gardens.

Use our access to the estates and rivers of Perthshire for a unique hunting, shooting and fishing holiday in the Scottish Highlands.

Having bought the house in 1989, we converted it to a small, very personally run hotel, retaining many of the interesting features of the house.

We have 13 individually designed bedrooms, 2 being 4 poster bedded rooms, one of which is in antique pine with it's own fireplace, very romantic on a cold winters night!

Shooting
The main estates we use are Atholl, Butterstone, Phoness, Cardnay, Murthly, Kinnaird, all being professionally managed Estates with excellent reputations, experienced stalkers & keepers, covering some of the most prized sporting ground in Perthshire.

- Driven White Hare
- Walked up: Can be mixed pheasant & partridge, mixed pheasant & white hare or mixed game i.e. duck, pheasant, snipe, woodcock, rabbit.
- Duck flighting, rabbit & pigeon not usually before the middle of November.

Stalking
Stalking - on 9,000 acres of our own local ground, hill & woodland.

We have excellent Roe,Red & Fallow stalking on our ground with many good heads coming off each year.

- Roe Bucks 1/4-20/10. Morning & evening outings-best time from May onwards.

We have 13 individually designed bedrooms, 2 being four poster rooms, one of which is in Antique Pine with its own open fireplace, very romantic on a cold winter's night. All rooms have private bathroom, colour TV, tea & coffee trays and direct dial telephones.

In Easter 1998, we completed the conversion of the "Bothy", immediately beside the Hotel, offering 5 ensuite bedrooms. The "Bothy" was originally the old kennels to the House and once again the conversion is to our usual high standard.

Our Restaurant is open 7 evenings a week and offers a Set Price Menu of £29.95.

We also offer a daily Specials Menu for both Restaurant & Bar, featuring delicious Seafood from the Western Isles, Lobster, Mussels, Surf Clams, Dover Soles etc.

When in season, plenty of Local Grouse, Pheasant Venison etc often shot by our Chef/Proprietor, are on the menu.

Throughout the shooting season, from November till February we offer some excellent rates for shooting parties on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis. Dinner can be taken in a our restaurant or bar. We offer a very high standard of accommodation, food & service to make our location the ideal venue for shooting parties (including wives!), who prefer the intimacy of a small Scottish Country house. We cater for all the Sportsman's needs, early breakfasts, (late for the ladies!), packed lunches, drying & larder facilities (we'll even cook your day's bag for you!), kennels & most important, late night drams by the fire discussing the day's sport!
