Day 1 to 2: JHB to Antelope Park
Leaving Egoli "The City of Gold" at sunrise we head north to the Zimbabwe border. Lunch is an own expense (OE) meal after which we can expect to see the absurd baobab tree marking the change in climate and vegetation. After completing border formalities we make our way to Antelope Park, our camp for the next two nights. Arriving in the late evening, supper tonight is enjoyed at the camp restaurant (OE). Antelope park offers some of the finest fresh water fishing available in southern Africa, species targeted here are large mouth bass and both nilotica and robustus bream. Apart from angling, Antelope Park offers a myriad of alternative activities. These include walking with lions, elephant back game viewing, horseback riding, and many others.
Day 3: Buffalo Downs
Today we continue traveling north to our overnight camp at Buffalo Downs, situated close to the Zambezi Escarpment. Tonight we enjoy a hearty farm meal whilst discussing tactics for fishing the mighty Zambezi River, and experience Zimbabwe hospitality at its best. BLD
Day 4 to 7: Kariba House Boat
After a leisurely breakfast we descend the escarpment into the Zambezi Valley and on to Lake Kariba, third largest man-made lake in the world. After transferring our gear onto the houseboat, the Sundrifter, we make our way out into the vast expanse of Kariba. We spend four nights on our spacious floating home in the capable hands of our experienced skipper. Our days are spent fishing for tigerfish and bream and game viewing off the tender boats, or simply relaxing on the houseboat. Fall asleep on the breezy deck listening to the sounds of an African night. BLD
Day 8 to 11: Lower Zambezi Fish and Game
Driving the short distance into the Urungwe Safari Area we head to our rustic camp on the Zambezi River. This is to be our home for the next four nights. Our days are spent on the River; fishing off motorized boats we target tigerfish, bream, nkupi, chessa and vundu. Hippopotamus, elephants and buffalo are regularly encountered, and make for a truly magical fishing experience. We will enjoy traditional braai's (barbeques) on the banks of the Zambezi and get to learn about African fauna and flora, whilst doing what we love, fishing! BLD
Day 12 to 13: Transit to Vic Falls
An early start this morning, we cross the mighty Zambezi River into Zambia. Skirting the northern shore of Lake Kariba we make our way to Livingston. We view the spectacular Victoria Falls from the original steel railway bridge when crossing into Zimbabwe. The bustling town of Vic Falls is well known as the "Adventure Capital" of Africa, we spend two nights here in a comfortable lodge. Here you are able to wander around exploring the numerous curio stalls. Those who wish to, have the opportunity to participate in a days white water rafting, bungi jump or a multitude of adventure activities on offer (OE). One meal will be had at a local restaurant (OE). BD
Day 14: Tour Ends
Tour ends this morning after breakfast
Note:
This tour can be extended in order to fish the Upper Zambezi and Chobe Rivers or to incorporate Botswana National Parks, namely: Chobe, Savuti, Moremi, and the Okavango Delta.
