The Mataura River offers the best 'match the hatch' fishing in New Zealand. You will need long leaders and fine tippets.

New Zealand is regarded as a trout fishing mecca, we offer spectacular scenery and some of the best fishing for wild
brown trout in the world.
I can supply all fishing equipment if required. This includes local flies, or if you wish to bring or tie your own, e-mail me for suitable patterns or sizes.
I am member of the New Zealand Professional Fishing Guides Association (NZPFGA) and encourage catch and release and river conservation.

With 12 acres of land, we enjoy a wonderful rural outlook over farmland, and spectacular views of the Hokonui Hills; The Mataura River; and Gore township.
We love to meet and entertain people, and extend a very warm welcome to all guests.
Our excellent location makes Queenstown / Te Anau / Fiordland / Invercargill / Bluff and the beautiful unspoilt Catlins, all within 1-2 hours easy drive.After a lifetime of farming, we have many friends with both sheep and dairy farms, where visits can be arranged.
Only 2 minutes drive to excellent brown trout fishing on the Mataura River, or try your luck at one of several rivers and smaller streams near by.
Make your stay as private as you wish, or become part of our family - 'arrive as guests - leave as friends'.

Our fishing season starts on the 1st of October until the 31st of May.
