Fly Fishing Edmonton Lakes
Canada, Alberta — Package: 300703
Package Details and Information:
We're pleased to offer guided float tube fly-fishing trips to Edmonton's local trout lakes at an affordable price. We specialize in stillwater fly-fishing, providing unique and fun get-a ways for north-central Alberta fly-anglers and visitors from out of town.
Choose Your Lake
Our four or eight hour guided trips will take place at one of these three local lakes:
Muir Lake is located about 30 minutes west of Edmonton. Thanks to aeration, this lake has been stocked with Rainbow Trout as of May 2003. Muir Lake is an enhanced fishery project and includes and education center explaining simple life forms and how trout feed on them as well as a casting platform and future plans for a spawning channel. The regulations at Muir are unique and put in place to give anglers high catch rates and a chance at catching a trophy-sized trout. These regulations include: One trout per day over 50cm (20 inches), no bait, and lake is open from May 01 - Oct 31.
Hasse Lake is Edmonton's most popular pothole lake. A Provincial Park located about 30 minutes west of Edmonton; this lake is stocked every spring with small Rainbow Trout. Fish up to ten pounds have been recorded from this lake.
Star Lake is located about 40 minutes west of Edmonton and is one of my favorite lakes. This lake is home to some exceptionally larger Rainbows but is not known for high catch rates. If you're looking for a challenge and a chance at a lunker, then this lake is for you.

We recommend you bring a five-weight fly rod with reels of both floating and sinking lines. These lines should have at least seven-foot, 5X tapered leaders. If you plan on renting fins, you must bring some type of boot or shoe to be worn in the water with our fins.
All flies will be supplied. Float tubes, fly rods, fins and life jackets are offered as rentals, or you can bring your own personal watercraft and equipment with you. Due to the many different sizes of anglers, we can not supply waders or wading boots. I will not take anyone onto the water without a personal floatation device, so if you have a life jacket, please bring it with you. We can meet at the lake or a place in Edmonton, usually the west-end, to load your equipment into our vehicle or arrangements can be made for hotel or home pick-up.
