Fishing Co. Mayo - Loughs Carra, Mask And Corrib - We are an Irish Tourist Authority approved B&B.Kilkeeran is famous for its success in the nationwide tidy towns/village competitions. The area is designated as area of outstanding natural beauty and is located within a protected game sanctuary on the shores of Lough Carra. It is home to a wide selection of birds and bird watchers enjoy them in a safe and beautiful environment.

The area offers excellent fishing but also provides some of the finest golf, hill walking, horse racing and touring in the West of Ireland. Nearby Lough Mask hosts the World Wet Fly fishing competition in August each year. These lakes are World famous for Mayfly fishing for Wild Brown Trout in the Ballinrobe area.

There are numerous walking opportunities and hill walking clubs locally, which are happy to invite along visitors to the area. Indeed with good local mapping and planned walks,  adventurous walkers can make themselves.

The area is ideal for the casual walker and local walks include a special area immediately adjacent to our house known as Dera.

It is a haven for the Flora and Fauna enthusiast as well as the bird watcher.

Golf in Mayo is a very special experience. There are many excellent championship courses in Mayo and Galway which are easily reachable from our location.

We can arrange for our guests to play most of these courses for what is a very affordable cost. courses, indeed three of the best are playable for Euro70 total.

As classic car enthuasists Michael and Bridie love to see our visitors arrive in style in a Vintage or Classic car.
The local mountains and sorrounding lakes are ideal for touring in an old Jag or MG. We have good secure parking to ensure that you feel safe leaving your precious vehicle in our care
Our guesthouse is situated near Ballinrobe, an area famous for its Wild Brown Trout. Loughs Carra, Mask and Corrib are all nearby and your hosts can arrange local gillies, boats etc if required.

Fishing is free in the area you may simply want to try the local streams or lakeshores at your leisure.

May and June are particularly busy times in Mayo as it is the peak Mayfly season. Early May can be the best time to fish the Mayfly on Lough Carra whereas Lough Mask performs better towards the end of May and Lough Corrib comes good early in July.

Lough Mask hosts the World Wet Fly competition during the Irish August bank holiday, the first weekend in August.

The best flies for the Mask are the Connemara Black, Green Peter, Invecta and Murragh. The Carra is best fished with a Bumble or Golden Olive. The Corrib fishes well with the Connemara black, Butcher, Claret and March Brown. The artificial Mayfly is good on all these lakes at the right time but if you are a Dapper then you must catch the real thing first, which is an adventure in itself.

Lough Conn and the Moy are about 45 minutes away are renowned for salmon and sea trout angling which require a licence but at very reasonable cost. Teach Bán can arrange suitable gillies, boats etc for you if required on the Moy.

We can also arrange for a days salmon fishing in Recess which is a very special experience.

The sea angler is a mere 15 miles from Westport, which is the Mecca for deep-sea angling in the West of Ireland.

The cource fisherman has lots of access to free fishing for pike and perch locally and other species are just a short drive away.

During the winter period the lakes can still be fished as they contain both pike and perch.

Our Bed and Breakfast is a modern B&B guesthouse located in Kilkeeran within the beautiful village of Partry in Mayo.

The house is beautifully decorated with wood finishes throughout are a delight.

The house is located in three acres of landscaped gardens on the lakeshore of Lough Carra, Co Mayo. The immediate area has wonderful walks and is within a protected game sanctuary .

The rooms are set out as doubles, twin and family rooms with en-suite facilities provided.

Tea and coffee is available for guests use when required.

Facilities include lots of good storage and drying areas for our visitors comfort.

The grounds contain adequate car parking and there are a few bicycles available for guests use also. A recently completed garden pond with waterfall adds to the comfort of the outdoor area where you can relax to the sound of running water.

There are two pubs in the locality and a good selection of restaurants in nearby towns Ballinrobe, Westport and Castlebar.
