Millwood Lake is approximately 35,000 acres w/13 gate dam and 12 parks operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers, and the Millwood State Park operated by the Arkansas Dept of Parks and Tourism. Fed by 3 rivers, it is a bass haven. Cypress trees, laydowns, stumps, hydrilla, coontail moss , deertounge grass, eel grass, Lilly pads, and standing timber fill this lake to the brim with bait fish and huge bass. Lake record Largemouth bass is over 14.5 pounds, with numerousothers taken in the 10-13 pound class very recently. The next Arkansas state record Largemouth likely swims in Millwood.
Prime spawning cycles (including the pre-spawn) begin in mid-to-late February and last through May on various parts of the lake. Summer, June-September can be a top water bonanza on this reservoir. Buzz baits, baby torpedoes, pop-r's, bass assassins, zara spooks, spit'n images, all draw ferocious attacks at the surface, on Millwood. Fall schooling activities usually begin in mid-to late September and continue through November, depending on cold fronts . It is common to catch numbers of 50 to 200 and more Whites and Blacks in the fall when the White bass run begins.

Arkansas Guide Fishing For Bass - Since 1990, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, in its regularly stocking program into Millwood Lake with purebred Florida bass, for improving the genetics of the ecosystem and have exceeded introducing over 1.45 million Florida Bass additions to the population. As of this calendar year, an additional 250,000 Florida Bass have been added to the population!! * Sizes of 2 inch fingerlings, to 5 pound adults, are included in those stockings each year since 1990.
