Fly Fishing Devon
England, Devon — Package: 1100837
Package Details and Information:
The property is located on its own island: drive over the bridge, shut the gate and you are in your own little kingdom. There is ample room for parking, and the patio and lawn area is fenced to deter dogs/children from escaping/falling into the river (toddlers beware....)
The price of your holiday includes all gas, electricity, heating, hot water etc., and all bed linen and towels are provided. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooking utensils, crockery, glasses etc as well as fridge/freezer, microwave, oven, hob, extractor fan and dishwasher. There is a utility room with a washing machine and tumble drier. There is garden furniture on the patio, and a barbeque.
During our first year a couple of salmon trout were caught, but no salmon, although salmon were seen and the Environment Agency clocked four going up the salmon ladder in October. A lot of small wild brownies were caught. Some guests did not fill in the fishing book, which is a bit annoying: I assume they didn't catch anything! the fishing is quite a challenge: you will only need a little rod - the river is quite narrow.

Location and Fishing Information
Fly Fishing Devon - We are located just off the A358 Axminster to Chard road at Weycroft, South Devon, England.
Situated in an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' the beaches at Lyme Regis, Seaton, Beer and Branscombe are a short drive away where sailing, fishing trips and other seaside activities can be enjoyed. The magnificent scenery, including the World Heritage Jurrassic Coast, can be appreciated over many miles by foot, bike or horseback. A day's trip will take you into the heart of the great national parks, Dartmoor and Exmoor.
Axminster is a pretty little market town centred round a 12th century church, with local shops as well as a supermarket. There are several pubs in the area serving good food local beers.
In a designated area of outstanding natural beauty, the Axe is a spate river and has no stocked fish: you pit your wits against wild brown trout, sea trout and salmon. Below the weir is a deep holding pool and there are many smaller pools under the wooded banks where fish like to hide which will test the best fisherman's skills. Tall tales will be told!
There are also two ponds in the field on the opposite bank: these are not stocked, but do have wild fish in them.
