2005 Spring Bassin’ Tips in Alabama

As March rolls around, mother nature’s revealing ways show early spring is officially underway in Alabama. Big, prespawn bass are on the move. Even in late February (traditionally cold), air temperatures hovered near 70 degrees. By April, most anglers get out the boat, trying all their new lures, rods and reels. Some even have new boats. By the end of April, bedding bass are found throughout the shallows.

May shows Alabama’s Lakes have stabilized, most lakes are back to full pool, after being lowered for the last 6 months for winter pool. The   shallows display newly growing, aquatic weeds in full bloom. Big bass are hungry, both male and female bass species are recuperating from the rituals of spawning and feeding takes place throughout all of Alabama’s Lakes.

The weather cooperates to, with warm 70-80 degree days. By the month of May bass are generally easy to catch, hitting lures from top to bottom lake wide. As the rituals of spawning cease, and some mighty hungry fish roam the shallows, this is fishing at its best.

This season’s fishing tips will cover all of Alabama’s Lakes for the next three months. Lures, manufactures, techniques, fishing spots and websites are all mentioned, while relating to the many ways of fishing for largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and spotted bass species.

"Thanks for a great vacation. We really appreciate all of the many details you took care of on our trip to Phuket and the southern islands. June and the kids particularly liked the deep sea fishing trip and the catching tuna; the elephant trip in the national park; and the many beauitful beaches we visited. The accomodations and food were great."
