The River Halladale has four rotating beats, and you can fish up to three rods on your beat. It is very much a spate river and if you hit it right you can enjoy great sport. In April, 2000, Angus Ross landed four springers and lost another two in one afternoon - all around the 10-11lb mark. Each beat has about ten named holding pools with several pots and runs in between. A 12ft rod can handle the water sufficiently well and thigh boots are enough for wading and crossing although most of the lies can be covered from bank fishing.

Little walking is required as the Strath road parallels the river.
