Fly Fishing The Flats In The Seychelles
Seychelles, Mahe — Package: 4000941
Package Details and Information:
Fly fishing is mainly done wading on the "flats", the shallow areas protected by the coral reefs. Several fish species can be caught: bonefish, pompano (Trachinotus blochii), trevally (bluefin, yellow spotted, golden and giant), snappers, queenfish and barracuda.
Mahe and Praslin are interesting for first time saltwater fly fishermen or for those who don’t have the budget to fish the outer islands. There are very few bonefish on Mahe but it is possible to catch the odd one. On the other hand, there are numerous 10" to 14" snappers and emperors and on overcast days it is possible to cast to trevallies. Praslin has a big flat where one has more chances to see and catch bonefish, but the fishing can be inconsistent.
Fishing on Bird and Denis islands is good. They hold a fair stock of trevally and bonefish can be caught there as well.
Desroches island is a prime fishing destination. The flats hold some bonefish and pompano as well as trevally.

"You guys know how to do it right! It was a great time for the both of us and not just the fishing. The whole experience is one we will treasure for a lifetime - and hopefully re-live frequently in person! Jamie told me that it was the best trip of his life. I agree. When you combine great location, great hosts, great fishing and uninterrupted relationship time for a father and son, well, it doesn't get any better. We'll be back for sure - with friends".
