With the Platinum XD we set out to design a rod that could not only cast thirty yards in a howling wind but could also flick a small dry fly into the rings of a rising trout with perfect delicacy and precision. It was not an easy task but we’ve succeeded - making the XD ultra-thin and one of the lightest rods in the world. Its fast, tip-action gives smooth, tight loops and great distance casting.

Our advanced design systems accurately predicted the stresses of the rod in action to give it superb feel, balance and durability. Its no surprise that Platinum rods have become the competitive fly fisher’s favourite choice - and one of the best selling stillwater rods available. Yet the new Platinum XD range offers even more flexibility, with the nine and ten foot models suitable for tough river work, even grilse and sea trout.
